For those of you who come from Stockholm, there are three alternatives. We recommend Vasaloppsvägen instead of crossing Älvdalen because the last bit consists of smaller gravel roads.

Alternative 1: Stockholm-Uppsala-Gävle-Falun-Rättvik-Mora-Vasaloppsvägen-Sälen. 470 km (6 hours 24 minutes)
Alternative 2: Stockholm-Enköping-Sala-Borlänge-Leksand-Rättvik-Mora-Vasaloppsvägen-Sälen. 443 km (6 hours 36 minutes)
Alternative 3: Stockholm-Enköping-Västerås-Fagersta-Ludvika-Vansbro-Malung-Sälen. 452 km (6 hours 24 minutes)

If you come from Gothenburg hav, you have the following options:
Option 1: Gothenburg-Oslo-Elverum-Sälen. 528 km (5 hours 50 minutes)
Option 2: Gothenburg-Trollhättan-Åmål-Torsby-Sälen. 495 km (7 hours 20 minutes)

Flight

Touch down only 15 minutes from Sälen's best skiing at the newly built Scandinavian Mountains Airport. If you want help with transfer, just let us know, and we will solve it! Speaking of transfers, how about skipping the regular taxi journey and instead start the mountain adventure as soon as you land by having several scooters or dog sleds waiting at the airport?
