Worry-free holiday accommodation
One of those who has chosen to both invest in a property and let Stöten handle the rental of the same is Sebastian Ruge in Borås. When apartments in Pistbyn were for sale the other spring, he didn't hesitate for a second to take the plunge.
"I've never regretted it - it's carefree ownership and a great holiday home"
In everyday life Sebastian Ruge project manager in the construction industry in Borås. He lives with his family - wife and two sons, in Hindås between Borås and Gothenburg.
As the whole family are keen skiers, not least Ted, 14, and Jack, 11, who explicitly loves skiing - there have been a number of winter holidays over the years. But it was Stöten that the family particularly liked.
The beautiful mountain environment, good skiing and the fact that friends also used to come here were some of the factors that contributed. So when they returned home in spring 2016 after a wonderful holiday in the northernmost ski resort in the Sälen mountains, they were totally satisfied.
"We'd only been home a week when I got the news that there were only four flats left, which were then for sale in Pistbyn. So I just had to leave work and go up there straight away! There was no time to hesitate," says Sebastian.
"If the fridge breaks, I don't have to go and replace it myself"
Said and done! The family settled on a ground-floor Pistby apartment with a perfect location in the middle of the slope in the direction of Skidtorget - an investment they have not regretted.
"We are very happy and the deal went smoothly. The accommodation has been hassle-free, and has also proved to be a good investment," says Sebastian Ruge and continues:
"You simply don't have to bother, which is exactly the kind of holiday home ownership we want. You have enough to do in your daily life anyway. Stöten takes care of all the management. Rental, maintenance and inventory. Everything from small things like a chopping board that needs replacing, or a dishwasher that's not working properly. If the fridge breaks, I don't have to go up and replace it myself. Just one of those things!"
Never worried about the flat being empty
The Ruge family stays in their apartment in Pistbyn for two or three weeks each season. Usually during Christmas and New Year, sports or Easter holidays. So far, Sebastian has never had to lose sleep worrying that the apartment would be empty during the weeks the family is not there.
"This is a very good investment that I have recommended to many others. I've never experienced any problems getting the apartment booked during the weeks we're not there. In addition, you get continuous information from Stöten with how the bookings look, so you have full control," says Sebastian Ruge.
"This holiday really is the best"
As we speak, there is still some time before the start of the season. It has been reported that the first snow has started to fall over Granfjällsstöten and the longing for skiing has gained momentum in the family. Not least for Ted and Jack.
"When we're in Stöten, the kids set their own alarm clock and get up for breakfast and then are at the lifts 15 minutes before they open! And with the location right in the middle of the slope, it works like a charm. Meanwhile, we adults can sleep in and have breakfast in peace and quiet," says Sebastian with a laugh.
When the lifts close, you can enjoy socialising, a sauna and good food and drink in your own apartment.
"It may sound cliché but this type of holiday is really the best, you socialise and everyone can do their thing and across generations. Another positive thing is that we have met a lot of new acquaintances this way", concludes Sebastian Ruge.
