Energy saving tips for holiday home owners

Small adjustments can make a big difference to your electricity bill
With the rise in electricity prices, there is a lot of concern in society - not least among you, our holiday home owners. Here we have gathered our best tips on how you as a holiday home owner can think about keeping electricity consumption down as much as possible in your home.

- Review your electricity contract and your electricity bill. Perhaps there is money to be saved by renegotiating your contract or even changing supplier?
- Check ventilation, windows and insulation. Adding insulation and switching to windows with a lower insulation value can make a big difference to your electricity bill.
- Ensure that all lights in the accommodation are LED lights. An LED lamp uses 4-5 times less energy than a halogen lamp and lasts up to 15,000 hours.
- Insert switches and timers. To prevent unnecessary use of electricity, it can be a good idea to install switches and timers for lighting and any plant dryers, for example.
- Unfreeze the freezer and make sure the back is dust-free. Ice build-up in the freezer increases energy use and reduces food storage. Also make sure that the back of the freezer is dust-free as this can also be an energy thief.
- Installing a low-flow showerhead that use less water per shower. This way, you can save money and the environment.
