10 fun pentagonal tubs
There are lots of different games that are perfect for a pentathlon. In this article, we've focused on traditional and unusual pentathlon games that are suitable for all ages and all events. From family reunions and Midsummer's Eve with friends to company parties!
Traditional games
- Tug of war - Use a rope of the right length and let the teams fight over who is the strongest. The first team to pull the other across the centre line wins!
- Sack race - The first person in the team lines up at a starting position and steps into the sack. On the referee's signal, the competitors start moving forwards and around a cone and then come back and hand over the sack to the next team member. You can use jute sacks, for example.
- The wheelbarrow race - One team member acts as a wheelbarrow and another manages the speed.
- Tandem skis - A perfect pentathlon game that can really get messy. Each team is given two planks with loops for their shoes. The team must then make their way from start to finish and the team that is first wins.
- Cube relay - Set up the cube game in a line in front of the teams, leaving some space between each cube.
Different pentathlon games
Five-piece tubs suitable for everything from family reunions and Midsummer's Eve with friends to company parties!
- Dumstrutes - Roll a large piece of paper into a cone. One person in each team should put the cone over their face and look through the small cone hole. Then you have to guide a small ball between some cones, the fastest team wins!
- Corn hole - Saw a hole of a suitable size out of a sheet of plywood, for example. The teams should then try to hit the hole with a bag of rice or similar.
- Norwegian karaoke - Load a list of some really well-known (preferably older) songs. One person in each team hears the songs through headphones and hums the melody so that the team can guess which song is playing.
- Spitting contest - Which team can drive a nail into a board the fastest? Prepare for the competition by driving a long nail about one centimetre into a board. Each team member must then hammer the nail once into the ceiling before the next one takes over. The first team to drive the nail all the way down wins!
- Forming words - Identify a word or phrase, for example Stöten in Sälen, and print each letter (and spaces) on individual pieces of paper. Teams are given the papers in a pile (not in order) and have to work out which word/sentence the letters form. The fastest team wins!
Tips on great prizes!
Of course, the honour is a very big and often sought-after prize. But to whet the appetite for winning even more and thus create greater commitment among the competitors, it always helps to have an attractive prize. Below we list a couple of really nice prizes for the winning team of your pentathlon games!
- Make a CD of the songs you played during the competition. The winning team will then have a lifetime memory to listen to in order to remember their success.
- Make your own medals for the winning team to wear for the rest of the evening!
- Make t-shirts for the winners with a funny print, like "we won the pentathlon" that they can wear for the rest of the evening. And why not make similar t-shirts for the losers? But of course with the text "we lost the pentathlon" instead!
- Make your own gnuggies! Let the winning team tattoo a gnuggis tattoo that says something funny, such as "we are the best". It will most likely be a super hit!
