Skiing holidays with children
Holidays with children often involve a lot of planning and preparation - but it doesn't have to be difficult! Here are our top tips to make your skiing holiday with kids a breeze!
Pack smart

Start planning your packing well in advance and make sure your car is packed the day before you leave so you can just drive away when the time comes. All of Stöten's accommodation has parking facilities virtually on the doorstep, so packing up will be a breeze! Also remember that if you have forgotten something at home, most things are available to buy at the resort.
Choose the right clothing
Spending a few extra pennies on good quality clothes for the kids can be a good investment - you can often find good second-hand ones. Go for layers with wool closest to the body and water-repellent material on the outside. A child who is cold or wet will quickly get into a bad mood. Also make sure that the clothes fit well - a sock that is crushed in the boot often leads to whining.
Take it easy!
There's no need to rush off to the slopes with the kids. They rarely have the energy for a full day on the slopes, so start the morning in peace and quiet with a proper breakfast.
Biscuit chocolate and raisins are classics that work when energy is low

Refuelling energy
Everyone - especially children - needs good, nutritious food before a ski day! Load up with a good breakfast and always have sugar on hand when energy levels drop. Biscuit chocolate and raisins are classics that work great and are easy to stuff in when energy is low. Also, make sure the kids have a solid lunch and a good meal at the end of the ski day.
Dare to let go of responsibility
Give your children the best possible start to their ski career in Stöten ski school. Our skilled and competent ski instructors teach children (and adults!) to take their first turns on skis in an educational and playful way - while you adults can enjoy the mountain on your own. Or why not take the opportunity to have your own ski lesson at the same time? Even experienced skiers can benefit from learning more about skiing techniques!

Travelling safely with children
It's important to always have a safety mindset when skiing - especially with children. Keep your distance and preferably ski behind your child, although it can be tempting to zip past at your own pace. If your child falls (which they often do), it will just be a pain in the arse for you to trudge back up the slope to help them up. Let your child's skiing be the focus!
