5 fun games for the little ones

Sometimes it seems that children have endless energy. Even though they've been up and down the hill for hours on end, there's still more to give. We have previously suggested fun outdoor games for young children which are perfect for keeping games simple and fun. Now we're going to continue with more fun games for the little ones!

1. pinch-and-feel quiz

You will need: Various objects, blindfold, a bunch of giggling mates, at least 2 people.

This is how you do it: The blindfolded person has to use their sense of touch and smell to figure out what they have in their hands. It could be anything from a spoon to shampoo! A game that can lead to lots of giggles and brain teasers! The person who guesses the most correctly wins.

2. wheelbarrow race

You will need: One start line and one finish line, casual clothes. Minimum of 4 people.

This is how you do it: Two people form a team. One person stands with their hands on the ground. The other person stands behind and picks up the feet of the person in front, forming a 'wheelbarrow'. Compete against the other team to see who can finish first!

3. killer ball

You will need: A soft and light ball of foam rubber. Minimum 4 people.

This is how you do it: The ball is thrown onto the pitch and you have to catch it. The person who has the ball throws it at the other participants who then get "burnt". To get back in the game, you do 10 jumps. Hands and head are free - you have to get hit on the body to get "burned".

4. Last couple out

You will need: A large play area, an uneven number of participants, at least 7 people.

This is how you do it: One is the hunter and the rest pair up two by two. The pairs line up hand in hand behind each other, the hunter standing at the front with his back to the others. When the hunter shouts "last pair out", the last pair lets go of each other to run to the front of the line - without either pair being caught by the hunter. However, if the hunter manages to catch one of the pair, they pair up and the other becomes the hunter.

5. Guess the number in the jar

You will need: Large glass jar, many small items (e.g. erasers, chewing gum, marbles, beads, sweets), paper and pencil. At least 2 people.

This is how you do it: Put X number of things in the jar and write the number down on a piece of paper. Let the children guess how many are in the jar. Whoever comes closest gets to decide the next round!

5 games to keep older children entertained

At a certain age, children will no longer be content with ball pits, fishing ponds and putting together a play. As a parent, you have to face the facts - all children will eventually grow up. What does take time to grow out of, however, is the restlessness and ants in the pants you can feel when you're bored. So, to keep everyone's spirits up, here are some games that are suitable for older children - all the way up to their teens!

1. Taste test

You will need: Beverages of different brands with similar colours, appearance and flavours, or similar fruits or sweets. Blindfolds. At least 2 people.

This is how you do it: Pour out all the different flavours of the drink, candy or fruit and let the blindfolded person guess which brand it is. For example: buy several different types of apples, cut them into pieces and put them on a plate. The person should use their sense of taste to answer whether it is a green or red apple.

2. Camping

You will need: A tent, sleeping bag/mattress/blanket and pillow, a card game, a laptop/tablet, a book - or other entertainment. Something to eat. At least 1 person, depending on the size of the tent.

This is how you do it: Give your kids an experience to remember. Take them to a secret location where you let them pitch the tent, build a fire and have a good time. If the kids are brave, why don't you play a little prank on them during the night?

3. charades

You will need: A mobile phone to create the charades. At least 3 people, the more the merrier - then you can make teams

This is how you do it: Decide the rules in advance. Can you talk at all or is body language the only rule?

4. Fish play

You will need: Nothing special. At least 4 people.

This is how you do it: One person starts whispering a made-up sentence of x number of words to the person closest to them. They then whisper to the next and the next. The last person should say the sentence aloud. It is almost never the same sentence is told all the way through!

5. round of tips - guess the picture

You will need: A printer, internet access. Minimum 10 people, the more the merrier!

This is how you do it: Either you print pictures from the participants' Instagram accounts and they have to guess who the picture belongs to. Or you print out pictures of, for example, celebrities, places, plants, etc. People divide into teams of up to 4 people and try to guess from the 1-X-2 suggestions! The team with the most correct guesses wins.
