Spring winter - experience the fifth season

The days are getting longer, the temperature milder, and the sun's rays are warming while the snow lies cold on the mountain. In the transition period between winter and spring, magic happens in the Swedish mountains - the fifth season of the year, spring-winter, is here.

The months of March and April are what we in the mountains call spring winter - and according to many of us, it is the absolute best season for skiing. Cold nights provide good skiing conditions while daytime temperatures remain mild and pleasant. The sun allows for longer skiing days and our bodies start to get their much-needed dose of vitamin D again.

Crisp cold nights mean that the snow is hard and stable in the mornings while in the afternoons it becomes so slushy soft and lovely. Cutting carving turns in the buttery soft snow is really hard to beat!

Do you like to hang out in our SnowPark it's also a great time for park training as the landings are a little extra soft and forgiving thanks to the mild temperatures.

When spring winter comes to Stöten, in addition to Sälen's best skiing, you can also enjoy lots of fun activities both on and off the slopes. During the Easter holiday weeks Vargy and his friends organise extra fun for our youngest guests. The Easter trophy, face painting and the Easter egg hunt are just some of the children's activities organised by Vargy.

Round off your skiing day with live music, boot dancing and good drinks in good company

Our popular après-ski moving out on Brewery outdoor terrace, which is usually bathed in sunshine in the afternoons in spring. Here you can round off your skiing day with live music, boot dancing and good drinks in good company. Of course, the annual Pool Jump is also organised in Stöten, where everyone who is not afraid of water can participate. If you don't want to jump in the pool yourself, you can just as well act as a spectator and it will be a guaranteed laugh fest for everyone present.

For those who prefer skiing in the long run, our fine top tracks are a must. Enjoy the kilometre-long cross-country trails up on the bare mountain with magnificent views of both the Swedish and Norwegian mountain landscapes. Choose between the shorter Toppspåret trail of 3 kilometres or the slightly longer Östra Granfjällsturen trail, which consists of a full 15 kilometres of cross-country skiing at an altitude of almost 950 metres.
