Simply put, the best!

2022: Best ski resort overall. But also the best ski resort for families with children. Then you have Sweden's best piste too. Now the skiers have had their say - the best in these three heavy categories is Stöten!

The prices of Sälen, the most northerly ski resort in the mountains, are really skyrocketing! The investments made in recent years have resulted in the resort being named "Ski Resort of the Year" by the industry organisation SLAO. And just last week it was announced that Stöten has also now won the prestigious gold "Sweden's Best Ski Resort" in Sweden's largest ski media Freeride reader vote - for the second year in a row. With almost a quarter of all votes, 23.4 per cent, it was clear that Stöten is the given first choice when the country's ski enthusiasts have their say; Stöten is ”Sweden's Best Ski Resort 2022”. But not only that. Freeride also crowns winners in more categories every year - prizes as heavy as thawing snow such as ”Sweden's best ski resort for families with children 2022” and ”Sweden's best piste 2022”. And who won for the second year in a row - well, Stöten in Sälen!

We are thrilled and touched by this honour!

Stöten has a large number of families with children as guests. And they have clearly not been disappointed. Of all those who voted in Freeride's competition to find the best ski resort for families with children, almost a quarter, 22.7 per cent, agree. Stöten is the best!

- "We are very happy and touched by this award, we have invested a lot in families with children in recent years," says Johan Thorn, CEO of Stöten in Sälen AB, and continues:

- Among other things, we have opened a brand new ski area with several kilometres of blue and green slopes, which can be reached with Dalarna's fastest 6-chair lift Vargy Express. We have also worked hard to ensure high quality with a wide range and plenty of plastics in our ski school, says Johan.

- Last but not least, we also invest a lot in providing everything from creative activities in the Vargklubben to good meals for children in our restaurants. With us, it should be easy to be both a child and a parent. And this is proof that we have succeeded," says Johan Thorn.

Älvan - Stöten black pride

A piste that is as much talked about as it is loved is without a doubt Älvan - Stöten's black pride, which has long been talked about as one of Sweden's best. Something that was also confirmed just last year when Älvan won Freeride's ”Best piste of the year” award. But this year too, the descent, which starts from Sälenfjällen's highest drop of 398 metres, is the skiers' favourite. 30 per cent of all those who voted think that Älvan is the best piste in Sweden!

The descent is not only long, varied and offers magnificent views of the Swedish and Norwegian mountains. Älvan is actually also qualified for FIS GS, that is, giant slalom, which this slope is alone in these latitudes. So, for those considering a ski holiday in Sweden, the choices are many. But when the skiers themselves have their say, the choice is obvious: if you are a family with children, want to ski Sweden's best piste or just generally want to go to Sweden's overall best ski resort in 2022 - then it is towards Stöten that you should head.

We have put great focus on slopes, lifts and snowmaking systems, but also to expand the number of accommodation options, the possibility of ski school and other important circuit services. Everything to give our guests a perfect skiing holiday. You shouldn't just want to come here, you should also want to come back," says Johan Thorn, CEO of Stöten in Sälen.
