Rent accommodation for Vasaloppet

Are you looking for accommodation during Vasaloppet? Or maybe you need really good cross-country tracks to practice on before the race? Don't worry, in Stöten you'll find both a wide range of accommodation options and world-class cross-country trails.

Every winter since 1922, the classic Vasaloppet race has taken place in northern Dalarna. Thousands of skiing enthusiasts from all over the world gather to cross-country ski the nine-mile route from Sälen to Mora. Whether you want to visit Sälen to see the spectacle or if you are going to participate in the race yourself, it is important to book your accommodation well in advance. There are many options but they book up quickly so don't wait too long to book!

Tips for those booking accommodation for Vasaloppet

Tip #1: Be on time. There are many accommodations to choose from in and around Sälen for those travelling to Vasaloppet. However, it is recommended to be out in good time as the best accommodation often runs out quickly and even if there is accommodation left, prices are often driven up sharply due to the high demand.

Tip #2: Choose accommodation that suits you. Everyone has different tastes and preferences when it comes to accommodation so make sure you find something that suits you and your needs. If you are only going to have a place to stay overnight while all your waking hours will be spent outdoors, you may just want to get away as cheaply as possible and then a simple accommodation will suffice. However, if you are combining the Vasaloppet with a skiing holiday, it may be more important that the accommodation is comfortable and of a slightly higher standard.

Tip #3: Choose accommodation near the ski slopes. Whether you're planning to stay near the start or finish of the Vasaloppet, it's nice to be close to the track. Keep in mind that there is often a lot of traffic during the Vasaloppet so queues often form. It would be a shame to miss this highlight because you got stuck in a traffic jam...

Keep costs down considerably by sharing accommodation

Tip #4: Share accommodation. If you're planning on travelling to Vasaloppet alone, it can still be a good idea to share accommodation costs with other skiers. Keep an eye on forums and social media to find someone to share accommodation with. This way, you can both keep the cost down considerably and maybe find a new friend for life!
