Skiing with children
Skiing with children can be the best family activity there is. When you're introducing your kids to skiing, you want to do everything you can to create the best skiing experience possible. That's why in this article, we're giving you our top 6 tips for skiing with kids to make the experience the best it can be!
Introducing children to skiing
We have in a previous article shared a handful of helpful tips and exercises that you can use to practically teach your children to ski. In this article, we thought we'd focus on how to create the best skiing experience for your children. So, below we provide 4 simple tips and advice to help you create new fun experiences together:
- Skiing is about coffee, cosiness and community. Sure, the feeling of rushing down the mountain is hard to beat, but when it comes to skiing with the kids, the skiing experience is often more about coffee, cosiness and socializing. Skiing is actually only a small part of the whole skiing experience, most of the time is spent on all that is around, so make sure it is really fun!
- Start with short days. To keep your skiing experience as positive as possible, we recommend that you start your introduction to skiing with short days. This way, you can keep both your mood and energy high for a longer period. After all, the aim is for everyone to be eager to hit the slopes again the very next day.
- Everyone can develop at their own pace. Many children start skiing at the age of 3. Others take longer. Similarly, some want to stay on the children's slopes for several weeks while other children want to try more difficult slopes almost immediately. How children develop is highly individual and it is important that you as a parent respect that. Don't force anyone onto a slope that is too difficult too soon.
- If someone gets grumpy, it's okay to bribe them. If the mood or energy level of someone in the family starts to drop, it can be very smart to offer some chocolate biscuits or raisins. Bribes are perfectly acceptable, and a bit of quick energy is good for peace of mind.

Skiing with children
Last but not least, we thought we'd finish by sharing two final tips for those planning to ski with the kids:
- The right clothes and equipment. When it comes to skiing with children, the right clothes and equipment are step one. Nobody likes to be cold and it can ruin any day. In our previous article "Everything you need to know for a skiing holiday with children" you'll find our top tips on how to dress for your skiing holiday!
- Ski school turns them into professionals. Many children progress faster when they develop their skills in our popular ski school. This is simply because skiing with mum and dad is different to skiing with an experienced ski instructor.

In conclusion
The desire to learn to ski will develop as soon as children realise how much fun it is. With lots of praise, snacks and games, the skiing experience will be very positive and something that the children will take with them next time.
