Children's snowboard length - a sizing guide
We have previously shared tips and advice that will come in handy when teaching your child to snowboard. Now we thought we'd continue along the same lines and tell you more about how to choose a suitable length for your child's snowboard.

Factors that determine the length of the snowboard
When buying (or renting) a snowboard for your child, there are two main factors that determine which length of board to choose - the child's height and weight.
The length
If you choose a snowboard that is very long in relation to your child's height, it will feel big and clumsy, as well as being more difficult to handle. This will not only lengthen the learning curve but also risk reducing their desire to ride! Similarly, choosing a snowboard that is too short for your child's height is not a good idea. Instead, it can lead to their toes or heels catching on the slope when they try to turn, while making it harder to keep their balance.

Weights
Another aspect that may need to be taken into account is the child's weight in relation to their height. In some cases, it may be that they have grown a lot in length but still weigh little or vice versa. If the child is taller and weighs less than average, a shorter snowboard is usually preferable. For children who are shorter but weigh a little more, a longer board is preferable.
Length guide for children's snowboards
Generally speaking, the snowboard should end somewhere between the child's chest and eyes. As mentioned earlier, it may also be necessary to take into account your child's weight in relation to their height. That said, we've put together a length guide that works to help you choose a suitable snowboard length:
| Child's height (cm) | Length of snowboard (cm) |
| 94 | 70-80 |
| 102 | 80-90 |
| 109 | 85-95 |
| 114 | 90-100 |
| 119 | 95-105 |
| 127 | 100-110 |
| 135 | 105-120 |
| 140 | 110-125 |
| 145 | 115-130 |
| 149 | 125-135 |
| 156 | 130-145 |
| 164 | 140-150 |
To summarise
To make learning easier and snowboarding as fun as possible for your child, it's important to choose a board of just the right length. This can be easier said than done.
