Guide: How to use your wellness allowance on skiing in Stöten
Did you know that you can use your wellness allowance for skiing in Stöten? Since 2018, the Swedish Tax Agency recognises alpine skiing and ski school as tax-free wellness benefits, opening the way for more people to discover the joys of skiing while improving their health! Here we explain what applies and how you can use your wellness allowance on skiing in Stöten!

What is a wellness allowance?
The wellness allowance is a tax-free staff benefit that employers can offer their employees to promote physical activity and well-being. It's up to companies to decide whether and how much their staff should receive. And since a few years back, you can use your wellness allowance for the best thing there is - skiing!
- You must be in employment to receive a wellness allowance, and your employer decides whether and how much you receive.
- The maximum amount per year is SEK 5 000 but can be lower, depending on the employer.
- By default, the maximum amount per activity is SEK 1 000, but as an activity is counted per session/day, you can use the wellness allowance on lift passes that cost more than that in total. Check with your employer or the Swedish Tax Agency to be absolutely sure you are doing the right thing!
How to use the wellness allowance in Stöten
Here are the most common ways to use the wellness allowance at a ski resort:
Lift pass/ski pass
You can use the wellness allowance to pay for lift passes in Stöten - both day passes and season passes count as wellness.
Ski school & technique training
Ski school, technique courses and private lessons also count as wellness according to the Swedish Tax Agency, as long as the cost is less than SEK 1,000 per session. This means that you can develop or hone your skiing technique together with one of Stöten's skilled ski instructors - at the company's expense.
What can you do not use the wellness allowance for?
Unfortunately, the wellness allowance cannot be used for other services and products associated with skiing, such as
- Purchase of equipment, i.e. skis, ski boots, helmet or similar.
- Equipment hire (if not included as part of the activity, such as the course Learn to board in Stöten).
- Clothing such as a ski jacket or ski socks.
- Participation fees in ski competitions or licences.

How to do it - step by step
- Buy your lift pass or sign up for the ski school on our website. If you have booked accommodation in Stöten, you can add the SkiPass to the same booking.
- Once the SkiPass has been paid for, you can go to My Pages and download a wellness receipt specifically for your SkiPass. The receipt contains all the information needed to receive reimbursement, such as organisation number, product, VAT, purchase date and validity period.
- Save the invoice/receipt with your name and detailed description of the activity.
- Submit the documentation to your employer to apply for the wellness allowance.
- Get the money back through your salary or internal company processing. It's simple!
Tips!
Although downhill skiing is recognised as wellness according to the Swedish Tax Agency, it is still up to the employer to decide whether to recognise lift passes and ski school as wellness. Check with your employer to see what applies to skiing-related activities.
